MISSION
The Woodlawn Community Service Corporations' mission is to assist in providing some solutions to problems that plague the Woodlawn and surrounding community.

Emphasis is placed on conducting community development workshops and events to heighten awareness and gain insight into the importance of being independent and responsible individuals.
THE ORGANIZATION
In 1994, Faris Mercherson formed the organization, then known as the Women's Auxiliary of the West Woodlawn Council of Block Clubs.

On October 14th 2000, the name of the organization was changed to the Woodlawn Community Service Organization (WCSC).
BELIEFS
The members of the organization feel strongly that education is a cooperative endeavor and that one can empower themselves through the power of knowledge. 

To facilitate this belief, the WCSC organization has conducted Community, Family Value Awareness and Economic Development workshops.
SERVICES
The Woodlawn Community Service Corporation assists the families and students of Emmett Till Math and Science Academy and the Woodlawn Community School by providing back-to-school supplies, uniforms, Christmas toys and family Christmas baskets.
COMMITMENT
Since our inception, Woodlawn Community Service Corporation remains committed to membership recruitment as a viable answer to realizing its goals for the Woodlawn Community and its residents.

New growth and new ideas are essential to a full and complete development.  Every member has something to contribute in promoting growth.
MEETINGS
WCSC meetings are held the second Saturday of each month at the Bessie Coleman Library, 731 E. 63rd Street at 1:00pm -3:00pm.
